The Ear-2000 Assistive listening device / sound amplifier is commonly called a concrete microphone or electro-acoustic receiver. It is packaged by the manufacturer as an experimental bomb detection device because of its capabilities to pickup minute vibrations such as the faint ticking of a bomb. This device is often used by professional plumbers to locate leaky pipes embedded in the concrete foundation of a house. It is also used by counter surveillance and security experts to identify sources of voice leakage in a room.
